9:00 What is composting – Description of the compost process the variables that control the process, recipes to successfully compost, and the items that must be controlled: time, oxygen, moisture, pH, C:N ration.
9:45 Whole animal composting – Whole animal compost systems, set-up of a poultry mortality composter, biosecurity, legal and environmental issues.

10:45 Channel composters and Compositing Problems
Mass mortality composting – Both in-house composting and outside composting of large numbers of dead birds.

Take appropriate route to Chesapeake Bay Bridge (Rt. 50), (Eastern Shore of Maryland). Take Route 50 East to Salisbury, MD. Take Rt. 13 South to Princess Anne, turn left onto Rt. 822 (UMES Blvd.) and proceed to stop sign. Turn left onto Backbone Rd., and continue around the half circle to next stop sign. Turn left, then right onto Strickland Drive (paved road). The Poultry Research Center is the second building (green metal) on the left. #30909

From Norfolk, VA and points further South:
Take Rt. 85 to Rt. 58, to Rt. 17 (Norfolk, VA) to Rt. 23 North, across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel. Follow signs to Maryland. Pass through Pocomoke City, MD, to Princess Anne. Once near Princess Anne, follow signs to Somerset Ave., MD-675, take a right on Broad Street (second light in Princess Anne). Turn right onto University Blvd. Turn right onto McCain Dr. Turn right onto Strickland Dr. The Poultry Research Center is the second building on the left (#30909).
